Papa Mark and Grandma Kath come visit!!!!

Matt's parents are headed off to Brazil in June to serve a 23 month mission for the church. We are so thrilled for them and excited to read letters, email, etc. and hear all about their mission. They decided since they'd be gone for awhile that they would take the opportunity to come visit us now with the extra incentive that Matt was celebrating his 40th (Yep, you read that right, 40!) birthday on March 16th. So they arrived on March 10th and left on the 17th. We had an amazing week with them. We are so grateful they came to visit and I know it meant a lot to Matt to be able to spend his birthday with them. We'd had some lousy weather in the weeks before they came, pretty rainy, so we were worried they wouldn't get any sun but it peeked out a few times :-)

The first full day they were here Matt took off work and we headed up to Laupahoehoe. It was drizzling but we put on our jackets and enjoyed the beauty anyway. A tsunami destroyed the area many years ago and there is monument at the park here that details the disaster. It destroyed a school and killed many children. It is one of the most beautiful places on the island in my opinion. I really love to go there and watch the waves crashing.

Banyan tree at Laupahoehoe, it's massive

It sounded like such a fun trip! After seeing the pictures, my kids are all dying to go to Hawaii (me too!) I wish it was that easy. It looks like there are so many amazing things to see and do.
