Our trip to Kona

We decided to drive on over to the other side of the island for a few days "vacation" while Mom and Dad were here. We stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa with out cool kamaina (local) discount. It was awesome!!!! This place was amazing. It was huge and had either a tram to ride or boat that took you around the property on a little river that flowed though it. It had 2 very different pools but both were so much fun (pictures coming). These are some pictures I took of the property. It had a lagoon that was open to the ocean so you could snorkle in it. We were in it one afternoon for an hour before everyone was asked to get out because a Hawaiian monk seal had been spotted in it and apparently not only are they endangered but also dangerous. We never got to see it but we did see a huge sea turtle right up by the shore and the kids followed it along as it swam toward the ocean. We spent two nights here and had so much fun. Waikoloa has several hotels, condos, villas, etc. as well as two shopping centers. The restaurants at the hotel were pretty expensive so we just went to the food court at the shopping mall to eat which worked out just fine. We had an amazing time. More to come....
